Helloooo!!! hellohellohellohello

Any and all advice is welcome here.

1) Who would be willing to help me fix up my site a little? I have some new pictures I'd like to meld into a new banner, I want to do a sidebar thing on what I'm listening to/reading, and put my links in a scroll-down list. Any volunteers? Or suggestions for someone I could pay a little to do it?

2) Do you have a iBook or Mac Book? I'm considering getting one, and want to hear some reviews.

3) What is the easiest, yummiest thing you've cooked recently? I'm hungry.

4) Do you think Fox rigged it so Mandisa would lose because Sony-or-whatever-big-record-company-is-calling-the-shots didn't think a heavy black woman would sell records?

5) Do you ever get your eyebrows waxed at the cheap mall places? Don't you worry you'll look like Joan Rivers?

6) I have to go to a black-tie and jeans benefit auction tomorrow night. What the hell does this mean for a woman to wear?

Can you help a sister out here?

1. I got nothin'.
2. I just bought a 12-inch PowerBook. It's just darling, and weighs a mere 4.6 pounds. I've hardly used it so far. I figured since I wasn't going to be using a laptop that much, there was no reason to splurge on the new MacBook Pro with the Intel chip. I wanted lightweight, too, because I would whine too much carrying a heavier one through an airport. It's delightfully wee.
3. I must vote against the Jackpot Asserole from Flea's recipe contest. It was horrendous to cook—raw ground turkey, hard noodles, tomato soup? Gah!
4. Dunno. Haven't been watching Idol.
5. I get my brows threaded. Good luck finding someone from India or the Middle East out there in Montana!
6. Gracious, I don't have a clue.

1) I couldn’t possibly help you here.

2) We have an iBook at home. My husband’s a Mac-Man. He likes it.

3) Grilled cheese sandwich with tomato slices grilled into the cheese. Yum!

4) I don’t suspect a conspiracy I just think a lot of jerks of this country didn’t want to vote for a heavy black woman. She didn’t deserve the boot, not by a long shot. She’s got a great voice.

5) No. I pluck my own. Not because I’m afraid of someone doing it wrong but because I’m cheap.

6) I’ve never heard of a black-tie and jeans benefit. Seriously WTF? Does not compute. Are you sure women are invited? How the hell are you supposed to know what to wear?

I made turkey tetrazzini last night with a recipe from that stupid Kraft recipe magazine that comes in the mail. It was easy, and it wasn't half bad. And it was low(er) fat. I'd imagine it's on the Kraft website.

I get my brows done by the local cosmetology school students, and never had any trouble. Maybe there's a similar place in your town? They're super cheap and they tend to be very careful since they are still learning.

1) I'm useless here, as my own site is aesthetically-challenged and I'm a complete technodunce.

2) Hubs has a Mac "desk" model (whatever the hell they call 'em). But I've heard good things about the iBooks.

3) an alfredo-asparagus lasagna from Vegetarian Times. (recipe on their website.) Pretty good with balsamic glaze.

4) I'm clueless here as well.

5) I pluck my own eyebrows, and as a result, I have a naked stripe down my left brow.

6) Jeans and a sexy top. How's that? :)

1) Would love to help! Bring on the ideas!! I'm a non-Mac laptop user though...would that screw things up if we set up a new template for you?

2) Love the idea of a Mac. Can't stand the idea of being a left-out Mac user though. Don't "they" make every frickin' thing in the world for PC users? Argh.

3) Cooking? What's that?

4) I don't have a TV but considering the backlash I'd have to agree with the idea behind your question. Sounds as though she should have stayed on.

5) Waxed by a local gal who is a GENIUS. Considering trying threading just for kicks. There's an abundance of places to try here due to population demographics.

6) Jess is right...jeans and a sexy top with a blazer or some such thing. The other choice is a nice top/pants/skirt combo with a denim blazer.

Seriously...if you want template help, drop me a line at nutshellshell at shaw dot ca. :o)

I have a Mac titanium PowerBook. I love love love it.

Seriously, if there were a fire, after my husband and kids I would make sure my PowerBook got out safely.

That is so wrong.

Can't help you on the techno stuff. Sorry.

Pair some cute, flared, low waist jeans with heels and a cute top (maybe a jacket too?) and dynamite jewelry. Sounds fun!

I made omelettes the other night with sliced tomatoes and cheese. I remember thinking, Why don't I make these more often? Cheap, tasty and easy!

3. Quiche, made with frozen piecrust. Mix some beaten eggs (2-3) with some milk (not too much), and add a little salt, a little pepper, and whatever else your little heart desires (broccoli, cheese, ham, etc.). Bake 30-40 minutes or so, or until top is golden and knife inserted into center comes out clean. Serve with salad and crusty bread.

5) I went to an expensive salon about a year ago, and have been maintaining them myself ever since. It cost something outrageous, like $40, but I haven't spent a dime on them since, so I think it was worth it. Irrational or not, I'm scared of the mall places.

6) I never heard of black tie and jeans before. My guess is that most of the people going haven't, either, so you really can't go wrong, because everyone will be wearing something different and you'll fit in fine.

Starkist has these new Tuna packets that come in foil envelopes. The sweet and spicy kind is delicious on a spinach and tomato salad or in a wrap. I hate regular tuna in a can, this stuff is really good.

Black tie and JEANS? I have no idea. I don't even know what that means.

Mama Tulip has her links in a scroll down box, perhaps she can help you.

Please take pictures of your attire for tonight I'm really interested to see what you decide on.

Mandisa screwed the pooch last week by doing the hand-raising Christian thing. Her Shania was poor also, but I still think Bucky and Kelly should have been gone long before Mandisa.

See you tonight at the Black Tie & Jeans. I'll definately be wearing (my best)jeans.

Had another idea for your header... Izzy designs blog headers for free and clearly she knows what she's doing!http://devblog76.blogspot.com/

Then, if you need help with the HTML for your scrolldown list, etc. I can help with that.

Ok - 'nuff said.

I just made microwave popcorn, that's easy. Not technically "delicious", but not bad, either. Since you posted this yesterday, though, I'm assuming you've already eaten by now.

I'd go with jeans and a blazer, I guess. Oh, and probably some sort of shirt to wear under the blazer. You know, in case it's cold.

Hi there....was sent here by another blogger who noticed I was in Montana as well. So, hey!

Ya know, the Mandisa thing annoyed me. LOVE AI, by the way. I am sure it had to do with her weight cause that girl can sing. I thought Taylor would go. Cute, yeah, but not a singer so much.

And, in Missoula they have cheap waxing places in the mall? Because I am in Bozeman where nothing is cheap, but I have never heard of this. How cool, cause it's only hair - they'll grow back. Heh.

Stop by sometime.

Karen

1. OOh, I like Chelle's idea to see Izzy over at Moonshine. She does great graphics. I can help with template stuff, but I'm still trying to teach myself how to use Adobe Photoshop Elements.

2. I have an iBook. LOVE IT. I really want one of the old Titanium PowerBooks like I had at my old job. If you get serious about getting a Mac, let me know if you have questions -- hubby is a Mac expert.

3. Really good Texas burrito thingies. Healthy and fairly low fat, plus delish. Let me know if you want the recipe.

4. Don't watch Idol.

5. I just did that this weekend, I was getting a manicure and the technician asked about my eyebrows. I had her wax them, but I wasn't impressed -- it wasn't horribly done, but just not as neat as when I do them. Plus I'm very picky about cleanliness and the place wasn't... well, up to my standards. Next time it's ritzy spa or my own bathroom.

6. No clue. Weird combo!

Thanks all for the help!

Brian and Chelle, beware for I may dump a load of pictures in your in-box at any moment and ask you to assemble them in a creative and funky way. And then I'll ask for more help after that and the fun will never end.

Nancy, I'm debating between an iBook and a Mac Book. Mac Books are so much more money, but I think it will be my primary computer, as the Mac mini has kind of reached its capacity in pictures and music. What does your hubby think about the difference between those two laptops and whether the Mac Book is worth the added $$?

High Well-heeled! Thanks for coming by. It's nice to have sisters-in-statehood. I'm going to check out your site as soon as I'm done with this...

I should have told you all that I don't have any jeans that aren't covered in holes or stains, so I think I'll do the reverse of what you mostly said. I've got a cute skirt and a no-nonsense tank top, which I'll pair with a nice silk scarf my mom sent from China.
